The table compares the wages earned in Australia by employees in five different sectors in 2006.
Overall, it is clear that there was a very great difference between the maximum and minimum salaries in the Sales sector. The lowest average wages were in the fields of Education and Travel.
In the Sales sector, it was possible to earn up to AU$216,100, although wages could be as low as AU$27,000. For this reason, the average salary in Sales was lower than in the Engineering and IT&T sectors, which had annual average wages of around AU$80,000. While the minimum salaries in Engineering and IT&T were similar at about AU$38,000, the maximum wage in Engineering was more than AU$145,000, compared with just over AU$100,000 in IT&T.
In contrast, the annual salaries in Education and Travel were low, at a maximum of AU$69,000 and AU$67,000 respectively. These figures were a little more than double the minimum wages. The average salary in Education was AU$50,000 which was AU$5,000 higher than in the Travel sector.

It is true that the activities of people have provoked an ecological crisis, with the result that many species of plants and animals are on the brink of extinction. While some measures may be effective in alleviating environmental problems, I agree with the view that it is now too late to prevent the destruction of most forms of life on the planet.
On the one hand, there are many efforts which should be supported to limit the enormous environmental degradation resulting from human activity. These efforts include international accords to ban the discharge of chemical waste into rivers and oceans, which kills aquatic life. NGOs, such as the Worldwide Fund for Nature and Greenpeace, raise funds and public awareness to prevent habitat destruction and protect endangered species. There is a growing movement to develop alternative energy sources, for example wind farms, to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Such steps are just a few of many actions which are being taken to improve the situation.
On the other hand, many consider that the fight against environmental disaster is already lost. Despite all our best efforts in recent years, the climate science is clear. The ice will melt, sea levels will rise and extremes of weather like droughts, floods and hurricanes will increase in regularity. Billions of people will lose their homes or starve as crops fail, and low-lying countries like Bangladesh will disappear from our maps. The oceans are poisoned, filled with toxic waste and plastics which are not bio-degradable.
In conclusion, although it is vital to take what actions we can to support the green movement, I agree with the view that it is already too late to avoid environmental disaster and possible human extinction.

Meaning: to dispose of waste products from chemical processes.
Example: Nowadays, more and more company and industrial zones have been discharging chemical waste into rivers, causing death to many fish and other aquatic animals.
